The National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling Concluded Successfully

From September 15th to 18th, the 2022 National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling was held at Zhongyuan Institute of Technology testing site. Over 270 team members from our school participated in the competition, and after more than 70 hours of hard work, 93 teams successfully submitted relevant MD5 codes. This competition was the one with the largest number of participants since our school organized the National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling.

Leaders from our school, heads of various departments, and the leaders of the School of Science provided important instructions and visited the site to inspect and guide the work. Fang Jingyong, Director of the Student Work Department of the Party Committee of our school, Song Changming, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and Zhou Huaqiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the school, went to the competition site to understand the learning and living conditions of the students in the competition, and sent care and solicitudes to the participating team members.

The leaders had a cordial exchange with the instructors and team members, inquiring about their diet, time arrangement, physical condition and other related conditions during the competition. They reminded them to pay attention to the large temperature difference between morning and evening, and pay attention to increasing or decreasing clothes to prevent colds, encouraging them to successfully complete the race in good physical condition.

The selection process for this competition began in April. After multiple rounds of selections from over 1,300 participants, more than 270 students were selected to participate in training. After more than two months of training and actual combat in basic method training, real test explanation simulation drills, and pre-match simulation drills, all team members successfully completed the competition.

Through this competition, both instructors and team members realized that practical ability cannot be obtained from textbooks. They also felt encouraged by the care from our school and college.
