School of Applied Physics was established in 2004 with undergraduate major in applied physics and a master's program in low-dimensional quantum physics and materials. Our subject is the first-level key discipline of physics in Henan Province, and supports the construction tasks of the undergraduate major in applied physics and the master's program in low-dimensional quantum physics and materials.

The major of Applied Physics aims to cultivate high-quality compound talents with good scientific spirit, scientific literacy and sense of innovation. The low-dimensional Quantum Physics and Materials The master's program aims to cultivate high-level application-oriented talents with high scientific, cultural accomplishment and healthy physical and psychological qualities, and a spirit of enterprising, innovative and collaborative cooperation.

School of Applied Physics pay attention to the professional characteristics and condenses the research direction, and focus on a number of distinctive research directions in the physics of quantum materials, micro-nano structural materials and applications, and surface modification and design of two-dimensional materials. We have a Zhengzhou key laboratory of Low-dimensional Quantum Materials and Devices. In recent years, we have presided over 8 projects sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and published more than 30 papers indexed by SCI.

We have 16 teachers, all of whom have doctoral degrees. Among them, there are 3 professors, 7 associate professors and 6 lecturers. Five of them have studied abroad. Two of the teachers have been honored the title of Academic and Technical Leader of the Department of Education of Henan Province, and three have been selected as Young Backbone Teachers of Henan Province.
