College of Science has two closely connected subjects, Mathematics (Mathematics and Applied Mathematics / Information and Computing Science) and Physics (Applied Physics). Applied Mathematics and Physics are are two provincial key disciplines. The College also has courses for three professional master’s in Applied Statistics, Electronic Information, Materials and Chemical Engineering, and two academic master’s in Mathematical Theory and Technology of Complex Systems, and Low-dimensional Quantum Physics and Materials.

At present, there are 114 staff members in the College of Science, including 10 professors, 38 associate professors. More than half of the members have a Doctor's Degree. The College has 1 Provincial Outstanding Teacher, 4 Academic and Technical Leaders granted by the Education Department of Henan Province, 8 Young Backbone Teachers in Universities and Colleges in Henan Province, 4 Model Teachers awarded by Henan Province, and 1 Distinguished Professor of Zhongyuan University of Technology.

Members of the College have made outstanding progress in scientific research. There has been 45 National Natural Science Foundation projects and more than 60 scientific research projects at provincial and ministerial level, of which more than 10 are Key Scientific and Technological Projects in Henan Province, with scientific research funds of more than 16 million yuan in recent three years. Our colleagues have been honoured with two second prizes of Henan Province Science and Technology Progress Award, one second prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of China Textile Federation and one Gold Award of United Nations. We have more than 700 academic papers published in domestic and foreign journals, in which more than 370 papers have been indexed in SCI, EI or ISTP, and 6 papers are highly cited papers of Essential Science Indicators. We also edited and/or published more than 50 monographs or textbooks.
