On the afternoon of January 10th, at the invitation of our university, Professor Qin Yuming of Donghua University gave a report entitled "Talking about the Experience of Applying for the National Natural Science Foundation of China" for our teachers through an online meeting. Professor Qin is the expert of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the China Scholarship Council. The lecture was chaired by Professor Song Changming, Dean of the Faculty of Science.

Based on nearly 20 years of experience in applying for and reviewing the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Professor Qin introduced in detail the characteristics of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the key points of the first stage reviewing, and the key factors to improve the possibility of success, and conducted a detailed analysis of the project selection, writing of abstract, project basis, research contents, research objectives, research plan, technical route, feasibility analysis to existing work basis and project team in the fund application form, pointing out the key points, attention points and detailed writing plans. Professor Qin's report was practical, specific and vivid, and provided a detailed analysis of the possible problems in writing the application, which benefited our applicants a lot.

After the report meeting, Professor Qin had an in-depth idea-exchange with the teachers and answered the questions about NSFC application in detail. Through this report, the teachers further improved their skills in writing grant applications, and further enhanced their confidence in applying and their determination to concentrate on scientific research.
